At County Durham Poverty Truth Commission, we have been working hard to set up our website and are very proud of how it has turned out. It’s packed full of information on our journey so far, our plans for PTC 2 and has links to our launch video, Community Commissioner conversations and individual stories.
Our full commission meetings for PTC 1 are up and running with both sets of commissioners getting to know each by playing games, sharing stories and meeting for cuppas and cake. We’re on track to identify issues and split into working groups by the beginning of the autumn.
Whilst PTC 1 has been moving into the next stage, we have also began recruiting Community Commissioners for our second Poverty Truth Commission which will focus on Stanley, an old mining community in North Durham. The people we have met so far are very passionate, energised and eager to share their experiences of poverty. I’m happy to say we have lots of people interested in joining us.
The next few months are going to be very busy as we navigate two Commissions at very different stages. We are looking forward to the challenge!
