As the Amplify theme group focused on housing, we aim to improve standards in private rental homes and foster positive relationships between tenants and landlords. Our group, which includes both tenants and landlords, has developed a shared vision of ‘What makes a house a home.’
We’ve noticed that the policy debate and media often highlight bad landlords. While this is important, it’s not the full picture, and it risks normalising poor conditions. This can also prevent us from learning from the practices of good landlords.
Over the next year, we plan to create an ‘alliance of the good,’ focusing on celebrating good landlords and sharing best practices, especially among private landlords working with tenants who have experienced poverty. By showcasing these examples, we hope to raise standards and explore how new policy changes can be effectively implemented.
Would you like to join our ‘alliance of the good’ as a landlord, tenant, or both? Or do you know someone who might be interested? Please feel free to share this information with them. We will meet online three times over the next year, offering a space for good landlords and tenants to collaborate.
To join the ‘alliance of the good,’ simply fill out this short form, and we’ll be in touch.
